ABOUT THE WORK

A Little Old, A Little New, accentuates the powerful synergy created
when tap dancers and jazz musicians are in conversation, while offering an
exciting array of historical and contemporary musical explorations. This high-
energy & virtuosic evening of world class dance and music offers something
for everyone, leaving the audience feeling further connected to the
black American art form of Tap Dance.  Alongside Hickey, the work features
tap dancers Elizabeth Burke and John Manzari, pianist Liya Grigoryan,
percussionist Charles Goold and bassist Mark Lewandowski.

"In This Time"
20 minutes // 3 tap dancers // 3 musicians // world premiere July 2022 at Little Island
Direction and Choreography by Luke Hickey
with improvisation by the dancers and musicians
Lighting Design by: Brandon Sterling Baker
ABOUT THE WORK

A musical exploration into various interpretations of the word "time."
The work playfully expands upon and collapses these forms of time, focusing
on three specific time signatures 3/4, 4/4, and 5/4. In This Time is inspired
by artist, Luke Hickey's, personal experience throughout the pandemic and exists
to process the themes of repetition, joy, isolation and uncertainty.

This work was created with the generosity and
support of the American Tap Dance Foundation.
